Ultralight hiking socks

16 socks here carry their maker’s lightest label: “ultralight” and “extra light”. They take the least room in a close-fitting shoe and suit hot days; there is little padding underfoot.

A weight label describes the yarn and knit, not a temperature rating. Brands do not share a scale, so compare the padding and the cuff as well.

Before you buy

Every brand prints its own size chart, and a medium at one maker is not a medium at another. Open the size chart for the brand you choose, or use the size finder with the exact model. Then check the heel, toes and cuff in your own shoes with the fit checklist.

Washing settings differ by maker too: the care lookup gives each model’s own instruction.
