Merino is a fine wool. A sock that lists only “wool” without “merino” is not counted here. Layered socks, such as waterproof socks with a merino lining, are listed by the layer that holds the merino.

Half or more and 30 to 49% are the two lines this guide uses for wool in a sock; the materials guide says where they come from.

Before you buy

Every brand prints its own size chart, and a medium at one maker is not a medium at another. Open the size chart for the brand you choose, or use the size finder with the exact model. Then check the heel, toes and cuff in your own shoes with the fit checklist.

Washing settings differ by maker too: the care lookup gives each model’s own instruction.
