When you want a hiking sock without wool

An ankle length hiking sock with what Sealskinz calls targeted cushion, a lightweight knit and an 80% polycolon blend.

Keep in mind: The low cuff sits below a boot collar, so it suits trail shoes and low hikers rather than boots. Facts come from Sealskinz’s UK/global site; check the US listing matches.

Closest in Sealskinz’s range: the Thurton Mid Length. They differ in cuff; the weight, cushion, blend and size chart are the same.

Check the size and the shoe together

Start with the unisex chart for this exact model. Use the size lookup or the whole Sealskinz size chart to find the published range, then check the heel position, toe room and cuff in your footwear.

The maker does not give a heel-to-cuff measurement. Try the socks with your boots to see whether the cuff sits above the collar. See how sock heights differ.

Try the selected size with the shoes and insoles you plan to use. Added cushioning should not crowd the toes or distort the heel position. The footwear-fit checklist explains what to check.

Care for the exact pair

Sealskinz’s product page for this model has no care panel; follow the sewn-in label on your pair.

Use the care lookup for this model’s wash and dry directions. A general wool routine should not override instructions for a membrane, a two-layer construction or a specific treatment.

Another sock to compare

Both are wool-free: neither lists any wool in its published blend. Padding: “targeted cushion” here, “moderate cushion” there; check each brand’s size chart.

Thorlo Moderate Cushion Ankle Trail Running uses its own size chart. Compare the two socks to see where their height, material, cushioning and care differ. Matching specs don’t mean they will feel the same in your shoes.
